Andrea Bough Claims Victory In Kansas City’s Municipal General Election

Kansas City, MO – Andrea Bough, an attorney and former local small business owner, received more than 60% in today’s Municipal General Election for Kansas City’s 6th District At-Large City Council seat. “I am truly humbled by the voters’ confidence in my candidacy and I commit to serve through inclusion, transparency and accountability,” said Bough.

In addition to bringing transparency and accountability to City Hall, Bough spoke often during her campaign about finding solutions to reducing crime, better delivery of basic City services, such as trash pickup and street and sidewalk repair, and affordable housing, which were central to her campaign. She said, “I look forward to bringing neighborhood voices to City Hall to be included in the conversation as we work
to tackle these issues facing Kansas City.”

Bough’s campaign highlighted her experience and leadership as an attorney, specializing in land use, and her work with local governments. Bough has been active in the Kansas City community through various charitable and civic organizations over the last 20 years. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Steve, and their two children. She is an active member of their church and an avid sports fans.

Andrea Bough credits her campaign team, a positive campaign message, widespread local support, volunteers, and her family’s unwavering support as key parts of tonight’s win. “The support of my family, friends and supporters, the campaign team, and running a positive campaign was a crucial part of tonight’s victory. Andrea Bough Announces Her Candidacy for Kansas City, Missouri City Council 6th District at Large. 

Andrea Bough is proud to announce her candidacy for Kansas City, Missouri City Council 6th District at Large.

“Andrea Bough has been involved in the Kansas City civic community for over two decades. Her experience as an attorney will serve her well dealing with the complicated challenges facing the city. I’m excited for her candidacy and look forward to helping her win the election,” said State Senator Jason Holsman.

Bough previously served on Mayor James’ transition team, chaired the Mayor’s Commission on Ethics Reform and served on the City’s Charter Review Commission. In 2017, she received the Business Practitioner Award at the Women’s Justice Awards from Missouri Lawyer’s Weekly.

Bough is an attorney and former small business owner, and has worked with city governments throughout her career. A 25-year resident of Kansas City, she is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, is married and has two children, age 20 and 15.

“Kansas City has unfinished business. Together we can continue the progress that has begun, while providing the basic services a City should provide it citizens, and at the same time addressing the more serious problems that continue to plague our neighborhoods. We must be a City that can do all three,” Bough stated.

The Primary Election is Tuesday, April 2, 2019.
